Contraindications
Isosorbide dinitrate must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active substance, acute circulatory failure, cardiogenic shock, systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg (hypotension), hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), and narrowing of the mitral valve or aortic valve (stenosis).
Interactions
A combination of ISDN and drugs to treat erectile dysfunction from the group of phosphodiesteres V inhibitors (e.g. Sildenafil, trading name Viagra®) is strictly contraindicated as it can lead to a severe drop in blood pressure. The combination of ISDN with antihypertensive drugs should be used with caution.
Dosing of Isoket®
Isoket® is available in various application forms. The tablets for oral administration are not intended for the treatment of an acute situation but for the prevention (prophylaxis) of e.g. angina pectoris attacks. They are available in both retarded and unretarded form.
The retarded form is characterized by a longer duration of action, so the tablets need to be taken less frequently. Tablets for sublingual use are placed under the tongue so that they dissolve there. This leads to a significantly faster onset of action than when the tablet is swallowed.
This form of application is therefore suitable for the treatment of acute situations, such as an angina pectoris attack in coronary heart disease. The same applies to the spray from which a few strokes are given into the oral cavity. ISDN is also available as an infusion solution for intravenous administration in acute situations. - Isoket® Tablets 20 mg 17 cents per tablet
- Isoket® sublingual tablets, per tablet 22 cents, in the case of a cash register prescription per multipack, 5 euros each.
- Isoket® Spray 15 ml about 28 Euro, if you have a cash prescription the contribution is reduced to 5 Euro.
- Isoket® 0.1% infusion solution, 10 ampoules just under 27 euros, 5 euros if you have a cash prescription.
