Contraindications

Mobilat® ointment and Mobilat® gel may only be used from the age of 18 and therefore must not be used for injuries to children and adolescents. They must also not be used during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Fufenamic acid, as found in Mobilat® Ointment, is excreted in small quantities in breast milk and can therefore be absorbed by babies during breastfeeding.

Mobilat® Pain Gel may only be used during pregnancy for small areas (<5 cm2). However, if extensive treatment with the pain gel is necessary, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding early, as newborns do not yet have the same detoxification possibilities as adults. It should also be noted that neither the ointment nor the gel should be applied to open wounds, infections or to mucous membranes and eyes.

Under no circumstances should Mobilat® ointment or Mobilat® gel be used in the case of a known allergy to the active ingredients flufenamic acid, chondroitin polysulfate or salicylic acid or to the other components of the ointment or gel. If there is a known allergy to a drug from the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that is associated with bronchial asthma or a reaction of the skin, use is strictly prohibited, as similar symptoms may occur when using Mobilat® ointment. Caution is also advised when taking Mobilat® ointment with patients suffering from asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps, obstructive respiratory diseases or chronic respiratory tract infections.

The use of Mobilat® ointment should also be discussed with a physician or pharmacist if acute intermittent porphyria is known. Porphyrias are a group of certain metabolic diseases. In these diseases, the body’s own production of a certain enzyme is inhibited, the so-called haem. The inhibition leads to a disorder in the formation of the blood pigment haem. In addition, Mobilat® gel should be used with caution, especially if kidney function is impaired.
