Corn Pops

Products

Corn pops are available in pharmacies and drugstores, among other places. The product was invented in Finland in the 1990s (“Laatupaakari’s Amazing Maize Pops”). In many countries, corn pops were first introduced in 2013 (Corn Pops). Later, other products (Maisk) and other brands were added.

Ingredients

Real corn pops are made of one hundred percent puffed corn. They contain no table salt, gluten, lactose, preservatives or additives. Corn consists mainly of carbohydrates (corn starch). It also contains water, protein, amino acids, little fat, fiber, minerals, trace elements and vitamins. 100 g of corn pops have a calorific value of about 390 kcal. They have a low density and a large volume. Corn pops are made from ground corn (cornmeal) heated with steam.

Applications

As a snack for infants 6 months and older, for children, adolescents and adults. Corn pops melt in the mouth. They are handy and they do not crumble or smear.

Adverse effects

Corn pops are considered healthy, especially when compared to other children’s snacks such as a milk slice or fruit gum.

Storage

Corn pops should be stored in a dry place at room temperature and protected from sunlight. If the package is resealed, they will stay fresh longer.
