The costs for an MRI examination of the head, including the neck, are at least 256.46€ for private patients and self-payers. A maximum of 461,64€ may be charged. In addition to the costs for this MRI examination, costs for consultation, contrast medium and further images in a different position may be added.In total, the costs for the examination with supplementary services may not exceed € 629.50. For patients with health insurance, the radiologist may charge the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians 126.59€ for the pure MRI examination of the facial skull, the cerebral skull 126.59€ and the base of the skull 126.59€.

Costs of an MRI of the lung

The cost of an MRI examination of the lung, which is one of the thoracic organs, is at least 250.64€ for private patients and self-payers. A maximum of 451,14€ may be charged. In addition to the costs for this MRI examination, costs for consultation, contrast medium and further images in a different position can be added. In total, the costs for the examination with additional services may not exceed 629.50€. In the case of patients with health insurance, the radiologist may charge €126.59 to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians for the pure MRI examination of the lung.

Costs of an MRT examination for a dog

The costs for an MRI examination of the dog are to be inquired at the respective veterinarian. Veterinarians must follow the Veterinary Fee Schedule, which sets an upper and lower limit for the costs of veterinary services, when determining the costs of an MRI examination. In general, the costs for an MRI examination are at least 300€ and the examination must be performed under anesthesia.

Costs of a whole-body MRI

In a whole-body MRI, the entire body is imaged as part of a cancer screening procedure or if inflammation or vascular changes are suspected. The costs of a whole-body MRI are normally not covered by statutory health insurance companies. In individual cases, part of the costs may be paid by health insurance companies if the examination is clinically indicated. The costs for self-payers and private patients amount to approximately 1000 to 2000 Euros.
