Cost of treatment | Broken tooth – what to do?

Cost of treatment

The costs of the treatment cannot be named as a lump sum, as they depend on the degree of tooth damage and the treating doctor. If the tooth has only broken off superficially, a simple filling may be sufficient. However, if the fracture runs deeper, a root canal treatment may be necessary.

The costs vary, the own contribution can be up to 450€ at the specialist. The subsequent treatment of the tooth with a filling or crown is charged extra. If the tooth has broken off so badly that it has to be removed, the resulting tooth gap can only be closed with an implant or a bridge or a prosthesis.

Since the costs can quickly exceed 1000€, it is worthwhile to call the health insurance company and find out about the subsidy. Accidents have a special position. In the case of an accident at work or on the way to work, the statutory accident insurance may, under certain circumstances, cover part of the costs.

The situation is similar if the accident was caused by another person. This person may then be liable and would then have to pay for the costs of dental treatment. The dentist should be informed about the exact course of the accident and can then decide how to proceed.
