Costs | Craniosacral therapy – all important information

Costs

Craniosacral therapy is often seen as a method of osteopathy. Osteopathy is subsidized by some legal and, depending on the contract, also by some private health insurance companies. The prices are not officially fixed.

Therapists can determine their own rates. Depending on the duration of the therapy (30-60min as a rule) the prices can vary between 45-250€. Craniosacral therapy is carried out by trained physiotherapists, alternative practitioners and doctors with specialized training.

Experience

Many patients experience craniosacral therapy as liberating and pleasant. Through the calm and gentle movements they can come to rest and concentrate on themselves. Some give a permanent release from feelings of tension and pain.

Often this is accompanied by an awareness of where the pain or blockage comes from. Confrontations with oneself and with what one has experienced may be stressful and exhausting in the short term, but after overcoming them, relief and release are often reported. Close contact with the therapist is also considered calming and relaxing.

Many patients state that the therapy has given them more confidence in their self-healing potential. Of course there are also patients who could not benefit from this form of therapy. Some also state that they first had to find a therapist with whom they could get along well. Since the therapy creates a close relationship between therapist and patient, one should take some time to choose a therapist.

Craniosacral therapy for babies

This therapy is also suitable for babies and children. Usually it takes place in a quiet supine position, babies can be treated according to their individual needs and children can also be treated in their natural movement. Of course, babies cannot yet achieve and expect such a high degree of self-perception.

Nevertheless, parents often describe an improvement in their children’s symptoms after craniosacral treatment. In babies, colic and hyperactivity can be treated as well as suction disorders or developmental disorders. With certain illnesses it makes sense to teach the parents exercises and treatment methods so that they can also practice at home with their child.

This can also have a positive effect on a disturbed parent-child relationship. Whether craniosacral therapy alone is sufficient, or whether further therapeutic methods should be used for the child’s problem, can be discussed with a pediatrician or osteopath. Depending on the problem, it can be decided whether it is beneficial to have the parents with the child during therapy or to have the child treated by the therapist alone. Of course, the child must also be taken into consideration.
