The HIV quick test can be purchased for about 20€. However, some manufacturers also offer their products for up to 50€. The HIV test at the doctor’s office or the public health department on the other hand usually costs only 10-15€ and may be covered by the health insurance.
What are the alternatives?
An alternative to a rapid test for STDs should always be to have a test done by a doctor, especially if you suspect a disease such as syphilis, chlamydia or gonorrhea. The advantage of a visit to the doctor is that a therapy can be initiated at the same time as the diagnosis and a consultation about the disease can be given.
