The price of the respective vaccination dose of Twinrix® varies from about 60 to 80 Euros, depending on the manufacturer. Thus, a complete immunization with three vaccinations costs about 180 to 240 Euros. Not every insurance company will cover the costs of Twinrix®, so please always check with your health insurance company before you start using the vaccine. Most insurance companies only recognize the need for a hepatitis B vaccination and then pay the costs incurred. Hepatitis A is only considered an optional vaccination for travelers to affected regions due to the low probability of infection and the good hygienic standards of western industrialized countries.
Are there any alternatives?
Alternatives for vaccination with Twinrix®, as a combination preparation, are the individual vaccinations for the respective Hepatitis A and B immunization. After a previous hepatitis A infection, patients are immune for the rest of their lives and do not require vaccination, so if this is known, the doctor should be informed.
