COVID-19: Medical History

Family history (medical history) is an important component in the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection (infection with novel coronavirus: 2019-nCoV) or COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019).

  • What is the general health status of your family members?

Social history

  • What is your profession?
  • When and where were you last on vacation?
  • Have you had contact with sick persons recently? Are these persons suspected of having an infectious disease affecting the lungs?

* Travel to risk areas or contact with demonstrably ill persons + symptomatology (general signs of infection, especially acute respiratory symptoms, e.g. shortness of breath) → Testing for SARS-CoV-2 infection required.

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you been experiencing?
  • How long have these symptoms been present?
  • Do you feel ill? Worn out or tired?
  • Do you have a fever? If so, for how long and what is the temperature?
  • Have you noticed any discomfort such as headache or muscle pain?
  • Do you have shortness of breath?*
  • What other symptoms have you noticed?
