Cypermethrin

Cypermethrin is approved as an emulsifiable concentrate (Ektomin). It has been registered in many countries since 1992.

Structure and properties

Cypermethrin (C₂₂H₁₉Cl₂NO₃, M_r = 416.3 g/mol) belongs to the pyrethroids. These are synthetically produced, chemically more stable derivatives of the pyrethrins naturally occurring in certain chrysanthemums (, Dalmatian insect flower).

Effects

Cypermethrin (ATCvet QP53AC08) is insecticidal and acaricidal.

Indications

Cypermethrin is used in cattle against infestations of ticks, lice, and mange mites and for fly control in the barn.
