Cystitis

Urinary bladder inflammation, also called cystitis, is a problem that women in particular know. Symptoms are more frequent urge to urinate and pain or burning sensation when urinating. These occur because the bladder wall is inflamed and therefore reacts particularly sensitively to even small filling quantities.

The inflammation is classically triggered by the body’s own intestinal bacteria that have gotten to the wrong place.Unfortunately, this happens very quickly, especially in women, because the anus and vagina are close together and the path to the bladder is only short for the bacteria due to the short urethra. Often factors such as mechanical irritation (for example, through sexual intercourse), cold or a weakened immune system also play a role. Protective, as well as to get rid of the bladder infection as quickly as possible, it is important to pay attention to these factors.

During treatment, warmth, rest and a large amount of drinking are essential to flush bacteria out of the bladder. Certain teas with herbal ingredients (for example bearberry leaves) or sour foods such as cranberries, which acidify the urine, can also have a positive effect. Who does not taste the rather bitter bladder teas, can take also alternatively caps from the pharmacy, which contain the herbs in concentrated form and take these with much water.

The effect of the natural remedies is based on the inhibition of the bacterial growth by the acid and the contained vegetable active substances. If these natural remedies are not sufficient, an antibiotic can be used that quickly combats the bacteria. Usually the pain disappears then already after 1-2 days of the antibiotic therapy.

The antibiotic alone is not sufficient however. A large drinking quantity is nevertheless important, so that the bladder inflammation does not return after short time. Who tends to cystitis should always drink enough for prevention and also keep hygienic rules, so that no bacteria get into the bladder. For example, it is recommended to urinate directly after sexual intercourse or to take a shower after going to the toilet during a bladder infection. If a man suffers from a bladder infection, the cause should always be clarified immediately by a doctor.
