Depilatory cream for the breast

Many men today want a smooth, hairless breast. Depilatory creams for the body are an alternative to shaving, epilating or waxing. Depilatory creams are usually well suited for application on the breast, as the cream allows for painless hair removal over a large area and without complications.

In addition, the skin in the area of the breast is usually not excessively sensitive, so that this chemical method of hair removal can be considered. When buying the depilatory cream, however, you should make sure that the cream is also suitable for body areas such as the breast. When using depilatory cream on the breast, a small area should first be tested for tolerance. Here, the cream is only applied to a small area, only if after 24 hours no skin reactions have occurred, the cream can be applied to a large area of the breast.

Depilatory cream that can be used during pregnancy

In principle, depilatory creams may also be used during pregnancy, unless the package insert states otherwise. In most cases, however, the package insert of the depilatory creams does not contain any information on the use of the products in pregnant women. However, many pregnant women’s skin is in a sensitive condition due to hormonal changes, so the chemicals contained in the depilatory cream can cause irritation more easily.

If a rash appears after use in the form of redness, blisters and itchy, burning skin, further use should be avoided. It is generally possible to use the depilatory cream in the intimate area during pregnancy, but special care should be taken to ensure that the product does not get onto the mucous membranes. Otherwise, irritation, minor injuries and a disturbance of the vaginal climate may occur, all of which can promote infection.

Duration of the effect

Unlike shaving or epilating and waxing, the effect of depilatory cream is chemical and not mechanical. The main active ingredient (e.g. thioglycolic acid) softens the main component of the hair structure (keratin) and thus ensures that the hair is detached. However, only those hairs that lie outside the skin surface are dissolved.

The hair root is thus preserved and the hair can grow back. Many products advertise with a smooth skin of up to one week. How long it takes for the hair to grow back depends mainly on how pronounced the hair growth is in the corresponding area of the individual person. In addition, the time until the next hair removal depends on how thoroughly the hair removal is performed. In most cases, however, the effect does not last much longer than with a classic shave. Depending on the strength of hair growth, the hair will grow back after an average of 2 to 5 days.
