Diagnosis | ITBS – Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Diagnosis

Various tests exist to diagnose ITBS and filter out its cause. The gait pattern is checked, painful movements are analyzed, and the extent of movement as well as the strength and length of certain muscles are tested. With a length test for the tractus iliotibialis in lateral position, the pain described by the patient with positive ITBS can be provoked, as well as manual pressure pain and the triggering walking movement. The cause can best be diagnosed with a gait/run analysis.

Summary

The healing of ITBS, an overload of the strong outer collateral ligament on our thigh, can be long, painful and very limiting in training. However, if you filter out the cause with your physiotherapist, give your leg enough time to regenerate, combined with special exercises, there is nothing to prevent you from reaching the finish line successfully in the future after correctly dosed training.
