Diagnosis of thoracic pain

Depending on the suspicion, it may be necessary to write an ECG, have an x-ray, a CT or MRI (in this case a special MRI of the lung must be performed, especially in the MRI of the lung the problems between soft tissues and air in the lung can be minimized), to do an ultrasound (also swallowing ultrasound) or to take blood. The history of chest pain should focus on the:

  • Pain quality (stabbing, dull, pressing), on the
  • Localization, to the
  • Intensity (pain scale 0-10),
  • Spread and time of occurrence (sudden, respiratory).
