A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:
- General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
- Inspection (viewing) of the skin [leading symptoms: erythema (extensive redness of the skin), oozing of the affected region, appearance of satellite pustules].
- Dermatological examination [due todifferential diagnoses:
- Atopic eczema (neurodermatitis).
- Infantile psoriasis (psoriasis in children).
- Seborrheic eczema (seborrheic dermatitis) – chronic skin disease: eczema of unclear cause, which is characterized by blurred erythema (redness of the skin)]
Square brackets [ ] indicate possible pathological (pathological) physical findings.
