Direct Granules

Products

Active ingredients available as direct granules include, for example, the painkiller acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, the stimulant caffeine, and various slimming products.

Definition and properties

Direct granules are fine-grained drugs, dietary supplements or medical devices that can be taken quickly without water and dissolve in the mouth. They are usually packaged in small, oblong pouches that are opened on one side. The granules or powder are placed in the mouth on the tongue. It melts together with the saliva and can then be swallowed. If desired, some water can be drunk afterwards. Ingestion is simple, but not necessarily more discreet than when a tablet is administered. Direct sticks are also suitable for people who find it difficult to swallow tablets or capsules. The effect may be faster for some active ingredients because the active ingredients are already dissolved when they enter the small intestine.

Ingredients

In addition to the active ingredients, the agents contain various excipients (selection, examples):

Direct granules usually have a sweet, sparkling and fruity-sour taste.

Precautions

Since direct granules usually taste good and resemble children’s treat powder, they should be kept out of reach of children to prevent poisoning. Full directions for use and precautions can be found in the package insert.
