Last but not least, a sudden change of position can also cause a dizzy spell. In most cases this is a short-term “orthostatic dysregulation”. This means that for some time the blood is not distributed in the body in the way it should be.

As a rule, dizziness occurs when the affected person wants to lift his head up again after bending down. The blood now needs some time to be pumped suddenly against gravity back into the brain. Previously it flowed in a much easier way with the force of gravity.
