Dorithricin ®

Introduction

Dorithricin throat tablets Classic ® is a pharmacy-only, over-the-counter drug that can be used for sore throats and swallowing difficulties in the context of an infection of the mouth and throat area. The throat tablets have an anaesthetic effect and thus also relieve complaints such as a tingling, scratching or burning sensation in the throat. The additional antibacterial effect can support the body’s own immune system in fighting the infection and thus lead to faster healing.

Indications for Dorithricin Neck Tablets Classic ®

Dorithricin throat tablets Classic ® are used to treat infections of the mouth and throat area. Here they play a role above all in the so-called symptomatic therapy, which means that they do not sufficiently combat the cause of the inflammation, for example viruses or bacteria, but only alleviate the current symptoms and relieve the patient. Possible clinical pictures in which Dorithricin can be used are, for example, sore throat and difficulty swallowing, inflammation of the tonsils or throat, and laryngitis.

In the early stages of infectious inflammation of the mouth and throat, dorithricin can provide rapid relief and help the natural immune system to fight it. Accompanied by further symptomatic therapy such as tea and bed rest, most throat inflammations can be controlled without further therapy. However, if the infection is more advanced and accompanied by other severe symptoms such as fever and nausea, further medication such as antibiotics may be necessary. In any case, throat and swallowing problems that persist for several days and cannot be relieved should be clarified by a doctor. In case of a sudden deterioration of the general condition, a doctor should also be consulted promptly.

How do Dorithricin throat tablets Classic ® work?

The active ingredients of Dorithricin throat tablets Classic ® are tyrothricin, benzalkonium chloride and benzocaine. They set at three different mechanisms of action: apart from the Linderung of the throat pain Dorithricin causes additionally a supporting antibacterial and cleaning effect in the mouth and throat area. The active substance Tyrothricin is counted among the so-called polypeptide antibiotics and develops an antibacterial effect locally in the mouth and throat area.

In contrast to antibiotics, which are swallowed in tablet form and absorbed in the stomach, Tyrothricin acts strictly locally and thus does not lead to the typical side effects such as gastrointestinal complaints. Benzalkonium chloride has an antiseptic effect and thus prevents bacteria from growing and disinfects the mouth and throat area to a certain degree. Benzocaine on the other hand is a so-called local anaesthetic. Its task is to anaesthetize the mouth and throat area and thus relieve the patient of his sore throat and swallowing difficulties. This is achieved, similar to the injection before dental treatment, by manipulating the ion channels on the mucous membrane.
