Dosage | CoDiovan

Dosage

CoDiovan® is swallowed as a tablet once a day. These tablets usually contain 80 mg, 160 mg or 320 mg valsartan and 12.5 or 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide. Depending on the reason for the intake and the severity of the symptoms, the required dose may vary, but higher doses than 320mg/25mg are not recommended.

Side effects of CoDiovan

In addition to the above mentioned side effects of the ingredients, CoDiovan®, like most drugs, can also trigger an allergic reaction, which can show itself with a wide range of changes – from itching to extensive swelling and fainting. If such symptoms occur CoDiovan® should be discontinued. If the blood pressure is lowered too quickly by CoDiovan® or reaches too low a level as a result of the therapy, dizziness and other symptoms such as tiredness and listlessness may occur, especially when getting up.

Interactions

CoDiovan® can interact with numerous other drugs. For example, anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen can attenuate the antihypertensive effect of CoDiovan® , while alcohol can increase the effect. Since valsartan must not be taken during the last two thirds of pregnancy, women who wish to have children should switch their therapy from CoDiovan® to other antihypertensive drugs. Taking CoDiovan® during breastfeeding is also not recommended as it can enter the breast milk and thus the infant’s circulation.
