Skipped intake

If you forget to take Iberogast®, you should still proceed as described in the dosage instructions and do not double the dose next time.

Side effects

Side effects are possible with Iberogast® as with all drugs, but do not necessarily occur in all patients. In very rare cases, the following side effects may occur when taking Iberogast®: If one of these side effects occurs, the medication Iberogast® should be discontinued immediately and the doctor should be consulted, who will then decide on further necessary measures. In general, Iberogast® is a very safe drug with extremely rare side effects and is therefore highly recommended before stronger drugs are used.

Occasionally liver damage up to liver transplantation after taking Iberogast® has been reported.

  • Skin rash
  • Itching
  • Breathing difficulties

As a rule, Iberogast® has a stomach calming effect. However, since it contains 31% alcohol, it can cause intolerance and diarrhoea in some cases. In individual cases, certain ingredients can also have a laxative effect. In addition, the concentration-dependent mechanism of action on the intestinal muscles and the activation of the chloride channels at high concentrations or sensitive reactions to Iberogast® can contribute to diarrhea. In case of uncertainties, it is advisable to consult a doctor or pharmacist.
