Dosage of BoxaGrippal

Boxagrippal® tablets may be taken by children aged 15 years and older in the dose of 1 tablet every six hours as needed. BoxaGrippal® available in pharmacies usually contains 200 mg ibuprofen and 30 mg pseudoephedrine. In exceptional cases of severe symptoms, two tablets may be taken simultaneously as long as the maximum daily dose is not exceeded.

This therapy may only be carried out for a maximum of 5 days to avoid kidney damage. This applies to ibuprofen as to all NSAIDs. Due to the ingredients, the maximum tablet intake is 6 tablets per day which corresponds to the current maximum dose of 1200mg ibuprofen and 180mg pseudoephedrine.

In any case, this dose should not be taken on your own authority, but only in consultation with the doctor or pharmacist treating you. Boxagrippal® should never be taken together with alcoholic beverages. It is better to take Boxagrippal® with a glass of water at mealtimes.

Indications for BoxaGrippal

BoxaGrippal® contains on the one hand a predominantly analgesic, and on the other hand a vasoconstrictive active ingredient that can reduce rhinitis and swelling of the mucous membranes. It can therefore be used when pain occurs together with a cold, a blocked nose or sinusitis. In most cases, BoxaGrippal® is used for a simple cold caused by viruses.

After ingestion, typical cold symptoms such as headaches, sore limbs, sore throats, rhinitis and pressure over the sinuses should improve within 30-60 minutes. Fever can also be temporarily reduced by BoxaGrippal®. In addition to the common cold, BoxaGrippal® can be used as a supportive measure in the case of a solid flu or a simultaneous occurrence of pain and an allergic rhinitis.

It has the same effect: pain, rhinitis, impaired nasal breathing and pressure over the sinuses improve. It is important to note that BoxaGrippal® should only be used when pain and symptoms of the nasal mucous membrane occur simultaneously. For symptoms occurring in isolation, there are better medications available.

It should also be noted that BoxaGrippal® does not combat the causative disease – it only relieves the symptoms. The duration of the disease is therefore not affected by the medication. BoxaGrippal® contains no cough-relieving active ingredient.

It therefore has little or no effect on a cough. However, this is useful: if a cough occurs during a cold or flu, it often brings out mucus. If the cough is suppressed by medication, mucus remains in the lungs where it forms a good breeding ground for pathogens.

It is therefore better to use an expectorant rather than stopping the cough when suffering from a cold. An exception is a chesty cough without mucus. This can be suppressed with cough suppressants if it is felt to be very annoying.

BoxaGrippal® can be taken for sore throats in the context of a cold. The active ingredient ibuprofen is pain-relieving and should alleviate the discomfort within approx. 45 minutes after ingestion.

However, if sore throat occurs without accompanying symptoms such as a cold, pressure over the sinuses or a blocked nose, it is not advisable to take BoxaGrippal®. Instead, other medications should be used which are directed against sore throats in isolation and do not contain any other active ingredients that are superfluous for these symptoms. Alternatives include the painkillers ibuprofen or diclofenac.

Lozenges from various manufacturers can also temporarily relieve the pain. A cold is the most common reason for taking BoxaGrippal®. It is well suited for use with colds in combination with other cold symptoms such as sore throats, headaches and aching limbs.

BoxaGrippal® usually leads to relief of symptoms 30-60 minutes after ingestion. The cold is stopped by the vasoconstrictive effect of pseudoephedrine, and the pain is relieved by ibuprofen. BoxaGrippal® does not contain any antibacterial or antiviral agents and therefore does not combat the cause of a cold. The duration of the illness is not shortened.
