Dosage | Penaten® Cream

Dosage

Penaten® cream should only be applied locally in case of skin complaints. The manufacturer recommends two to three applications per week for normal skin type. It should be ensured that the cream is rubbed into the affected skin area as thinly as possible.

In the case of wound complaints, especially in the diaper area, the cream can also be applied more frequently. However, care should also be taken that not too much cream is used. The zinc oxide in the cream can cause pain when applied in very high quantities, as the small particles in the diaper area can chafe. Instead, the cream should only be applied very thinly and then gently massaged in.

Price

The Penaten® Wound Protection Cream is classically sold in a small can, on which a yellow sun with a shepherd and dog is depicted against a blue background. Although the design has been modified several times during the last 100 years, this logo has been kept for all Penaten® products. Many different products are offered by Penaten®.

Among other things, these depend on the skin type of the patient. The Penaten® wound protection cream, available in a 50ml can, is available in most drugstores for a price of 1,75€. A larger 150ml can is available for 2,95€. Other products (care cream, washing/shower cream, wind & weather cream) can also be purchased over the counter for a price between 2 and 4€.

Penaten® cream and alcohol – is it compatible?

Basically, there is no direct interaction with alcohol when using Penaten® Cream. Nevertheless, the regular consumption of alcohol counteracts the effect of the cream. Alcohol leads to an increasing dehydration of the skin, as water is withdrawn from the body.

At the same time, sebum production in the skin is stimulated, which increases the risk of blackheads, pimples or enlarged pores. In addition, a dilation of blood vessels in the skin can lead to increased redness. For these reasons, regular consumption of alcohol should be avoided during the application of Penaten® cream, if possible, to ensure the effectiveness of the cream.
