Dosage | Thyronajodine

Dosage

Thyronajod® should always be taken according to the instructions of the treating physician or pharmacist. The daily dose is determined by the doctor treating the patient. Interactions and other illnesses of the person concerned must be included in the dosage instructions and taken into account when selecting the dose.

It is important to take the dose in the morning, always on an empty stomach and at least half an hour before breakfast. The tablet should not be chewed during the intake and should be taken together with a glass of water for easier transport. The simultaneous consumption of coffee can delay the absorption in the body.

If the person concerned forgets to take a dose, he or she should not take it later, but should continue taking it in the normal rhythm the next day. The duration of therapy with Thyronajod® varies depending on the cause and in many cases lasts between six months and a year. During the therapy, the thyroid gland values should be checked regularly to monitor the success of the therapy and, if necessary, to terminate the therapy or adjust it to an altered thyroid function.

May children take Thyronajod®?

Children under 14 years of age should not take Thyronajod®. Since hypothyroidism in children is usually caused by an iodine deficiency alone, the sole therapy of iodine alone is usually sufficient.

Can pregnant women and nursing mothers take Thyronajod®?

Those affected by hypothyroidism should continue to take Thyronajod® during pregnancy, as correct treatment is particularly important during this time. During this time, the intake should be carried out under particularly intensive medical supervision. Negative effects of Thyronajod® on the unborn child have not yet been proven. According to current findings, Thyronajod® can also be taken during the breastfeeding period without any reservations, as the amount of Thyronajod® components which pass into breast milk is very small. However, the daily dose of 200 micrograms of iodine should not be exceeded both during pregnancy and while breastfeeding and should be observed when taking other iodine-containing medications.
