Dr. Wolff Back Check

The test system Back-Check by Dr. Wolff consists of a mobile test unit for the standardized recording of the strength capacity of the different muscle groups of the back.Back pain or restrictions in the ability to move are among the major widespread diseases and represent a considerable restriction in the quality of life. Patients mainly suffer from non-specific back pain. Accordingly, conservative treatment methods play an important role, since surgical therapy is often not effective. Above all, the back muscles are the focus of therapy here. The multifunctional test system Dr. Wolff Back-Check for measuring the strength capacity of different muscle groups enables rational and high-quality data acquisition of all necessary parameters for assessing back health or planning a sufficient therapy.

Indications (areas of application)

  • Targeted assessment of the strength capacity of the trunk musculature as well as the upper body musculature in patients with back pain.
  • Preparation of a therapy or training plan to promote back health.

Contraindications

None

The procedure

The analyses are based on scientific principles. Long-term progress controls are important prerequisites for preventive health training: the Back-check 607 is the central unit of the analysis procedure. Furthermore, manual measurements and visual procedures are used to assess posture. The subsequent processing and evaluation of the collected data is computer-aided by the Back-check software. The direct comparison of the actual values with the scientifically compiled reference values provides information about the patient’s current performance. An additional, very useful function of the software is the linking of the analysis data with a training planner. In this way, intelligent computer-aided training management is made available.

The measurements are taken while the patient is standing upright. Under these conditions, which are close to everyday life, the relevant posture-related parameters are recorded:

  • Strength capacity of the cervical spine muscles: extensors (stretchers), flexors (flexors), lateral flexion (side flexion) right/left.
  • Strength capacity of the trunk muscles: extensors, flexors, lateral flexion right / left.
  • Upper body musculature strength capacity: push; pull of upper extremities.

Measurements of strength capacity in the upper and lower extremities are also possible. Documentation of measurement results and training history is a basic requirement for planning successful health training to promote back health. The Back-check software identifies and quantifies existing muscular deficits and so-called imbalances. This means that the balance of forces between antagonizing muscle groups (counterparts) is disturbed, resulting in posture errors, tension and pain. The applied reference data (data previously collected on healthy patients) guarantee a reliable assessment of the muscular status of the test person. Based on these results, our sports instructors and physiotherapists define a customized training program for you to promote back health.
