Drowning: Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate “typical drowning”:

  • Vertical position of the drowning victim in the water.
  • The victim tries to push the water away from under him, he steps down.
  • Due to an onset of shock breathing, the head is placed in the neck.
  • Drowning people do not respond to a shout, because they literally lack the breath for it.

Symptoms of dry drowning are:

  • Dyspnea (shortness of breath)

Symptoms of secondary drowning include:

  • Aggressive behavior
  • Pale skin
  • Blue coloration of the lips
  • Dyspnea (shortness of breath)
  • Diarrhea (diarrhea), vomiting
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Fatigue, lethargy
  • Chest pain (chest pain)
  • Rapid and shallow breathing
  • Restlessness
  • Forgetfulness
