Dry Eye Syndrome (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca): Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye syndrome):

  • Eye redness
  • Foreign body sensation
  • Feeling of dryness
  • Feeling of pressure
  • Burning
  • Scratching
  • Pruritus (itching)
  • Stinging
  • Mucus secretion
  • Tired eyes
  • Puffy eyelids
  • Intolerance of contact lenses
  • Occasional pain – with drafts, smoke.
  • Sensitivity to light/phobia (photophobia).
