Dry skin and wrinkles

Overall, dry skin tends to wrinkle more than healthy skin. Due to lack of care or underlying diseases, the skin is no longer able to control its firmness and elasticity sufficiently, resulting in more wrinkles. In addition, already existing wrinkles in dry and cracked skin are naturally particularly noticeable. Especially against the wrinkles, a sufficient supply of liquid and adequate skin care are important.

Dry skin on the eyelid

Especially in the area of the eyelids an allergic basic disease is very often the cause for itchy and dry skin. In this case, the eye itself is usually also affected and itches. In contrast, antihistamines in the form of eye drops help, as far as the skin in the eyelid area is concerned, but above all as tablets.

These include active ingredients such as cetirizine or loratadine. In very severe cases, a cortisone cream may also be necessary, but one should be rather careful with this cream in the facial area. If the redness and itching after application of a cream appearance should not be used this any longer, since then an allergy to one of the contents materials is very probable.

If the eyelid is not only dry, scaly and itchy, but rather swollen and burning, an ophthalmologist should be selected as soon as possible, because then a so-called lid phlegmon, i.e. an inflammation in the eyelid can be present. If the itching mainly affects the eyelash area, you should also consult a doctor. In this case it is possible that a mite infection is present, which leads to an inflammation of the hair follicles there. Otherwise all the above mentioned causes of dry skin, generally also in the eyelid area, are possible.

Dry skin under the eyes

Also under the eyes the cause of dry skin can be an allergy. But neurodermatitis also likes to express itself in this area. In addition, the classic dark circles under the eyes and other signs of inadequate care or excessive strain can manifest themselves here.Constant rubbing, due to tiredness or allergic reactions, often leads to a further worsening of the symptoms. The problem is often aggravated by the use of care products in this area. Make-up products as well as many skin care creams contain irritating or allergenic ingredients and thus aggravate the symptoms.
