Duration
The duration of a burning palate depends largely on the cause of this discomfort. Burning or scalding should subside after a few days, as the mucous membrane normally regenerates faster than the outer skin. This is why the intensity of the pain will decrease steadily.In the case of an inflammation, on the other hand, it can take longer than a few days.
The course of the pain and sensation can be relapsing or increase steadily or gradually. If the pain persists for more than a week, the painful area expands steadily or if a fever develops, medical advice should be sought.
