Duration | Cervical syndrome and dizziness

Duration

An acute dizziness in cervical spine syndrome can last from minutes to hours. Since the cervical vertebrae are usually in a certain malposition, they do not move properly when the head is moved and thus put pressure on surrounding nerve roots or blood vessels.A dizziness caused by an acute cervical syndrome can disappear within a few days with treatment of the cause (release of blockages or tension). A chronic cervical spine syndrome is often not curable and the symptoms can only be reduced by drug and physical therapy.

Thus, the patient suffering from chronic cervical spine syndrome will suffer from dizziness from time to time. In order to avoid dizziness attacks, the patient should avoid stressful situations, since stress usually causes further muscle tension. In addition, abrupt movements of the head, neck and shoulders favour the cervical vertigo.
