Duration of action of Voltaren resinat

The exact time to onset of action of Voltaren resinat® and the exact duration of action depends on the individual person taking the drug. The metabolism of the active ingredient diclofenac, which is used in Voltaren resinat® , takes place largely via the liver. Therefore, a deterioration in liver function (e.g. caused by increased alcohol consumption or other liver diseases) can lead to a different dynamic of action.

Voltaren resinat® is a drug with a fast-acting and a long-lasting component, a so-called retard preparation. In some cases, the pain-relieving effect can occur after as little as 20 minutes, but in most cases the onset of action fluctuates between 45 and 60 minutes. The effect of Voltaren resinat® can last up to 12 hours in individual cases, but for many users it wears off after 8 to 10 hours. If Voltaren resinat® is taken 1 hard capsule a day or 1 hard capsule in the morning and evening as prescribed, no depot effect should develop. This means that the drug does not accumulate in the tissues even after prolonged use.
