Duration of periostitis of the shin bone | This is how long an inflammation of the periosteum lasts

Duration of periostitis of the shin bone

Inflammation of the periosteum of the shin bone is the most common form or localization of this disease. Nevertheless, this does not mean that special healing methods can be found to accelerate the healing process. As with all other forms of periostitis, the length of time it takes to heal depends on how willing the patient is to take the prescribed rest and medication.

With good treatment, the periosteal inflammation can be expected to heal within about 4 weeks. Things like an additional disease or a chronic disease can negatively influence the healing process. As a result, the process can already be prolonged by a few weeks. However, if these factors are not present and the patient willingly follows the prescribed sparing, four weeks healing time can be taken as a rough guideline.

Duration of periostitis at the heel

A periosteal inflammation of the lower extremities is a difficulty in that it is very difficult to take care of the lower extremities. A complete relief is often not possible. Therefore, despite all this, care should be taken to keep the strain as low as possible. Furthermore, it is recommended – as with all forms of periostitis – to use an anti-inflammatory and possibly pain-relieving medication. If these guidelines can be implemented, even periostitis of the heel will have healed after 4 to 6 weeks.

Duration of inflammation of the periosteum of the ankle

As part of the foot, the ankle joint is also subject to the problem that complete relief is virtually impossible. This usually results in a longer healing process than would be the case with areas on the arms. However, if the patient still tries to protect the ankle joint as much as possible and if the healing process is supported by anti-inflammatory therapy, the healing process can be completed within a period of four to six weeks.

Duration of periostitis at the elbow

The elbow as a part of the upper extremity is a very grateful bone or joint in terms of healing of periostitis, as it can be immobilized very easily. Therefore, the most important condition for a quick healing is already given. This is the relief of the affected area. If an anti-inflammatory medication is also used, the inflammation can heal within three to four weeks.
