Duration of sick leave | How to remove colon polyps

Duration of sick leave

If the polyps are performed as part of a colonoscopy, the risk of complications is low and the patient can quickly get on with everyday life again. In this case, depending on the extent of the procedure, a sick leave can last one to three days. Sick leave is especially important if narcotics are used during the examination.

On the day of the examination, the patient is not allowed to participate in road traffic or operate heavy machinery. If a major procedure is performed and a hospital stay is required, the patient may be unable to work for much longer. Even after the stay in hospital, a phase of rehabilitation may still be necessary, which requires a sick leave.
