Duration of treatment with Fenistil®

Fenistil® also has no antiviral properties. The effect of Fenistil® unfolds via so-called antihistamines. These antihistamines block the receptors of histamine, so that the histamine can no longer act.

Histamine is a substance that is released in increased quantities during inflammation. Due to the antihistaminic property of Fenistils® it is mainly used for inflammatory processes such as mosquito bites or burns. The problem with cold sores is not the inflammation but the multiplication of the virus within the blisters. Therefore, the use of Fenistil® is not expected to shorten the duration of the disease.

The herpes patches are free of active ingredients and do not exert their effect through antiviral action. By covering the infected area, the optimal conditions for wound healing are created. The moisture within the patch thus accelerates the healing process.

In addition, lip herpes is less noticeable after application of the patch and can be covered with make-up in case of doubt. This leads to less psychological strain and thus to less stress. The reduced stress then leads to faster healing.

According to experience reports, the subjective complaints during treatment with a patch are also reduced. In most cases, the duration of the disease is shortened by a few days when herpes patches are treated.
