Duration | Sebaceous gland blocked – What to do?

Duration

Every now and then every person is affected by a blocked sebaceous gland. Often the problem solves itself again, as the body breaks down the excess sebum itself. Even normal personal hygiene is usually sufficient to remove excess sebum. Some people, however, are affected by impure skin again and again, or over a long period of time away from it. Especially with acne, years of progression, with better and worse phases, are normal.

Localization of an obstructed sebaceous gland

Sebaceous glands are also found on the earlobe. Here there are many small hairs, which are usually not well visible. On these hairs are sebaceous glands, which can occasionally be blocked.

Usually, one then feels small nodules in the earlobe. Cysts of the sebaceous glands are also often found in this area. Wearing earrings can also help.In order to prevent this, one should not forget to clean the earlobes as well.

Sebaceous cysts should be removed by a doctor, especially if they are prone to inflammation. There are also many sebaceous glands behind the ears. These are often omitted or simply forgotten during personal hygiene.

Sweat and sebum accumulate at this point and can lead to blockages of the sebaceous glands. If the sebaceous gland becomes inflamed, it can become palpable as a painful lump. The best measure that can be taken to prevent clogged sebaceous glands in this region is to cleanse the skin daily.

When washing your hair, you should therefore always remember to clean the area behind the ears. During the day, a lot of skin flakes, sweat and sebum accumulate there. In a circular arrangement, there are many relatively large sebaceous glands on the areola.

These glands can be seen as skin-colored dots and are most prominent during erection. They are completely natural and do not need to be removed. Occasionally, these sebaceous glands can become blocked and cause discomfort.

In this case you should consult a gynecologist. Possibly a bacterial infection is hidden behind it. One should avoid expressing the glands themselves, as this promotes abscessing infections.

Most sebaceous glands are located near a hair follicle. But there are also free sebaceous glands. These do not accompany hair.

Such sebaceous glands are found on the lip, among other places. Unfortunately, they too can be clogged up from time to time. The sebaceous glands are mainly located near the transition between lip red and skin and can look like small, whitish yellow dots.

They are harmless, but for many of those affected they represent a cosmetic problem. In this case a treatment with a laser is possible. There are also many sebaceous glands in the armpits.

Due to the high production of sebum and sweat in this region of the body, they tend to become clogged. Those affected can counteract this by depilating and thoroughly cleaning the armpits. Skin peelings and drying powders can also help to keep the sebaceous glands intact.

However, if infected and inflamed sebaceous glands are present, removal by a doctor is often advisable. The intimate area is interspersed with many free sebaceous glands. They produce the protective sebum, which is especially important for the sensitive skin of the intimate area.

Unfortunately, clogged sebaceous glands can also occur here from time to time. Regular cleaning of the skin in the genital area can counteract this. However, caution is required.

Especially women react very sensitively to aggressive shower gels and cleansing products. The pH value of the intimate area is thus brought out of balance and fungal infections are then frequent. Therefore, pH-neutral cleansing products should be used.

Inflamed sebaceous glands can also be removed in this area. The back is a typical site for the appearance of congested sebaceous glands. The V-shaped area of the chest, as well as the back and the T-zone of the face are places where a lot of sebum is often produced.

Excessive sebum production leads to congested sebaceous glands in these places. Also in the context of acne, these are the typical places of annoying blackheads. Especially on the back, skin peelings and cleansing products can be applied generously, since it is not a particularly sensitive skin area, unlike the face.
