Duration
The duration of sebaceous gland hyperactivity always depends very much on the cause. The most common cause is a change in the hormone balance. In adolescents, the duration of the symptoms can therefore range from a few years to about two decades.
In pregnant women, sebum production should return to normal after pregnancy. In connection with other diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, the symptoms can occur permanently in parallel with the disease. However, if the underlying disease is treated with medication, the hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands usually also decreases.
