Duration | Vocal fold paresis

Duration

It is difficult to make a general statement on the duration of vocal fold paresis, as it depends on the cause, the extent of the damage and the type of treatment. Vocal fold paresis treated with speech therapy should improve significantly within one to one and a half years. If a stenosis that has been removed was the cause of the paralysis, it may only last a few months if the nerve has not been severed. In some cases, however, there may be some hoarseness and restriction of speech for life.
