Dynexan® Mouth Gel

What is Dynexan® mouth gel used for?

Dynexan® Mouth Gel is an ointment containing the active ingredient lidocaine hydrochloride. As the name suggests, Dynexan® Mouth Gel is applied to the oral mucosa, gums and lips. The preparation is used for the treatment of pain in the mouth area or in the area of the oral mucosa.

Dynexan® oral gel is also used in dental practices. The mouth gel is also suitable for treatment of babies and small children. It causes few side effects and even small amounts are sufficiently pain-relieving.

Dynexan® Mouth Gel is available in pharmacies without a prescription, and various tube sizes or dosages are usually available for sale. Dynexan® Mouth Gel can be used up to eight times a day in adults. A small amount should always be applied to the painful area in the mouth.

For infants, a maximum of four times daily use should not be exceeded. To use Dynexan® Mouth Gel, take a small amount on the finger and gently massage the gel into the painful area of the mouth. Before doing so, pat the area dry a little and the gel will last better. Do not eat or drink for a few minutes immediately after application, so that the gel can take effect and is not immediately “washed off”.

Active ingredient

Dynexan® Mouth Gel contains the active ingredient lidocaine hydrochloride, a derivative of the local anaesthetic lidocaine. Lidocaine from the acid amide class of substances inhibits sodium channels in the body, which are present almost everywhere in the body and cause various effects. Among other things, the channels help to ensure that when an injury occurs at a certain point, electrical signals are transmitted and reach our brain, where a subjective pain impression is created.

By inhibiting the transmission of electrical signals by blocking the sodium channels, the pain is relieved. Lidocaine and lidocaine hydrochloride are used as local anaesthetics as well as drugs for cardiac arrhythmia. Lidocaine is only broken down very slowly by the body, the metabolism takes place in the liver.
