Fumitory herb can be taken in the form of tea or the dry extract of the herb also in the form of tablets and dragées. The drug is included, for example, in tea mixtures of the indication liver-biliary complaints.
Earth fumitory: the right dose
However, since the effective daily dose should be six grams, the tea blends are underdosed with 10 to 100 mg of the drug per gram of tea. The average daily dose is six grams of the drug unless otherwise prescribed.
Preparation of earth smoke tea
To prepare a tea from fumitory, two to three grams of the drug (one teaspoon is about 1.6 grams) are poured over boiling water and after ten minutes passed through a tea strainer. For complaints of the gall bladder, a cup of the warm tea should be drunk before each meal.
Notes on contraindications and storage
Fumitory should not be taken in acute inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis), as well as in gallbladder and bile duct stones.
The drug should be stored in a dry place away from light.
