Ebrantil®

Features

Ebrantil® contains the active ingredient Uradipil. This is a drug from the group of so-called antiadrenergic antihypertensive drugs. Urapidil lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure by reducing peripheral resistance in the blood vessels. Uradipil, also in the form of Ebrantil, is available only on prescription and may be used only under medical supervision.

Strengths and dosage forms

Urapidil is usually taken in the form of retarded capsules (hard capsules) containing 30mg, 60mg or 90mg of Urapidil. The physician in charge of the patient determines the required strength of the drug in each individual case.

Field of application

Uradipil (Ebrantil®) is used to lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels.

Contraindication

Ebrantil® must not be taken if hypersensitivity (allergy) to Urapidil or any of the other components of the capsules is known. If one of the following conditions is present, special caution is required when using Ebrantil®: The treatment of high blood pressure requires regular check-ups by the doctor, so it is essential to keep the examination appointments with the doctor, so that the correct adjustment of the medication and thus an ideal protection of the body can be achieved.

  • Heart failure (cardiac insufficiency), with mechanical functional impairment as the cause (e.g. narrowing of heart valves, pulmonary embolism, pericardial disease, restriction of heart action)
  • Children, as there is no empirical data on this in the treatment.
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Moderate to severe renal dysfunction
  • Elderly patients
  • Simultaneous treatment with cimetidine

Pregnancy and lactation

Ebrantil® must not be used during pregnancy, as there is no experience with human beings. Also, due to the lack of data, the use of Ebrantil® is not indicated in lactation. Especially at the beginning of treatment, when the dose is increased or the preparation is changed, and in connection with alcohol, Ebrantil® may impair the ability to react and thus to participate in active road traffic and to operate heavy machinery. In individual cases, the doctor treating the patient should be consulted.
