Effect | Valoron® N retard

Effect

Tilidine binds to central (brain) and peripheral (body) opiate receptors and leads to a reduced perception of pain by inhibiting the transmission of excitation (pain transmission via nerves).

Application

Valoron ® N retard can be taken independently of meals. The retard tablets are swallowed unchewed with plenty of liquid. The tablets should not be broken up, as this may impair the delayed release of the active ingredient.

The daily dose should be divided into two single doses, morning and evening. When taking the tablets, fixed times should ideally be observed. The tablets should be taken at 12-hour intervals (e.g. 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.).

Dosage

Valoron ® N retard is particularly suitable for the treatment of chronic pain. A common starting dose is 2x50mg or 2x 100 mg Valoron ® N retard. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 600 mg daily.

The necessary dose level is determined by the treating physician according to the pain therapeutic effect. Termination of drug therapy with Valoron ® N retard should be carried out gradually. In the case of weak kidney function (renal insufficiency), an adjustment of the dose is not necessary, but in the case of weak liver function (hepatic insufficiency). A special dose adjustment for older people is not necessary, taking into account the general side effects.

Side effects

Valoron ® can cause side effects in various organ systems. The most common side effects of Valoron ® retard are the occurrence of nausea and vomiting (>10%). This effect occurs particularly at the beginning of therapy and may improve during the course of treatment.

Furthermore, they can occur frequently: Occasionally (<1% d.F.) the tiredness can become so strong that a sleep addiction occurs. Taking Valoron ® can affect the ability to concentrate and react because it has a dampening effect on the central nervous system.

Especially when taking Valoron ® for the first time, taking it again after a longer period of time or increasing the dose, attention can be disturbed. Taking Valoron ® with sedatives or alcohol at the same time also increases the dampening effect on the central nervous system and reduces the ability to concentrate and react. Active participation in road traffic or the operation of machines should only take place after a detailed consultation with the doctor, in which the conditions for the above-mentioned activities are discussed.

Other conceivable side effects of Valoron ®, about the frequency of which no precise information can be given, are Up to 10% of patients experience an increased production of sweat when taking Valoron ®. This side effect can be avoided by avoiding heavy physical strain. Affected patients should listen to the warning signals of their body and take a rest in case of heavy sweating, physical exhaustion or dizziness.

Many patients experience nausea and vomiting at the beginning of treatment, but these side effects do not occur as frequently as they did at the beginning of treatment. Less than 10% of patients complain of diarrhoea and/or abdominal pain when taking Valoron ®. If you experience any of these side effects while taking Valoron ®, you should consult your doctor.

Even if you notice a symptom during therapy that is not listed as a side effect, but which you suspect is related to taking Valoron ®, you should still inform your doctor. If you experience very serious side effects, do not continue to take Valoron ® without consulting your doctor.
