Effectiveness of the pill with macrolides
If macrolides and the pill are taken at the same time, the effectiveness of the pill may be reduced. However, it is not possible to make an exact statement about the effectiveness of the pill in connection with macrolides, as not all macrolides have been tested with all the active ingredients of the various pills. In some studies, however, the effectiveness of the pill has been found to be worse when used in combination with macrolides.
It should therefore be assumed that the effectiveness of the pill is reduced when macrolides are taken at the same time. An additional method of contraception should therefore be used for the period of antibiotic use.
