Elderberry: Dosage

Uncrushed elderberry flowers are mainly taken in the form of tea. On the market, the tea exists in filter bags, and elderberry is also a component of various tea blends of the genus cold teas. Drug extracts are further contained in various herbal medicines, in the form of drops or dragées. The drug should be stored in a dry, cool place, protected from light.

The average daily dose is 10-15 g of elderflowers, unless otherwise prescribed.

Prepare elderflower tea – here’s how!

To make your own elderflower tea, pour about 3 g of the flowers (1 teaspoon equals about 1.5 g) over hot water and strain after 5-10 minutes. It should be drunk several times a day 1-2 cups of the hot tea and then sweat in bed.

Elderberry: side effects when taken?

When taking elderberry flowers, neither side effects nor interactions with other means are to be expected. Also, there are currently no known contraindications. When consuming elderberries that have not been sufficiently heated, nausea and vomiting may occur.
