Excilor

Products

Excilor is commercially available in many countries as a dosing pen and, since 2012, also as a solution (Doetsch Grether AG). It is a medical device and not a drug registered with Swissmedic.

Ingredients

The pen contains acetic acid, ethyl lactate, penetration enhancer, film former, preservative, and water.

Effects

Excilor penetrates the nail and creates an acidic environment in the nail, inhibiting fungal growth. It also inactivates enzymes that damage the nail. We cannot comment on the actual clinical efficacy.

Indications for use

For the treatment of mild nail fungus.

Dosage

According to the package insert. Before treatment, any residual nail polish should be removed. The liquid is applied with the dosing pen in the morning and evening on the entire nail surface and the underside of the nail edge. The film is then left to dry for 1 to 2 minutes. It is necessary to use the treatment for a longer period of at least 3 months. The pen should be closed again well after each application, so that it does not dry out.

Contraindications

Excilor is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity. Do not bring into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes. Refer to the Instructions for Use for complete precautions.
