Facelift

For many people, the increasing aging and the resulting increase in wrinkles is perceived as very disturbing. In order to achieve a significant rejuvenation and tightening of the skin, often only one operation is helpful. The methods used are facelifting or facelifting according to SMAS (Sub Muscular Aponeurotic System).

Face lifting is a procedure in which the lifting is limited to the upper layer of skin. It is also known as a soft lift. The face lift, on the other hand, is performed at the level of the muscle layer, i.e. below the skin layer.

A further distinction is made between a brow and forehead lift or a face lift with neck lift. The latter method includes lifting of hanging cheeks, double chin and neck. With the eyebrow lift, the eyebrows are to be lifted.

This should lead to a more open and astonished facial expression. At the same time, the forehead is lifted. With this method, only small incisions are made in the hair area.

The scars are not visible afterwards. The procedure is performed with the help of endoscopes. This is another advantage, because small invisible incisions are completely sufficient.

Finally, the eyebrows are lifted and the forehead is tightened in a layer where no important nerves or vessels run through. This is to prevent important structures from being injured during the operation, which could lead to complications. After the operation, however, minor bruising and swelling may still occur.

In general, however, the risk of infection is estimated to be lower than with a facelift. The view is then more open again. The entire face appears fresher and younger.

With this procedure the effect should be long-lasting. The procedure is usually performed as an outpatient in a clinic. The pain should be very low.

Afterwards, a bandage is worn for one or two days and sports and sauna should be avoided for the time being in order to reduce the risk of infection and not to endanger the healing of the scars. After about three days, the patient can wash his hair normally again. Good preparation is necessary for such procedures.

The most important for a satisfactory result is a detailed consultation with a specialist. In one or more consultations the best suitable method for the patient should be determined. Patients should always have the results, i.e. before-and-after pictures of the surgeon of already performed procedures, shown in a conversation.

In this way, patients can see what effects can be achieved by the various methods and how well the doctor does his work. Certainly it is not a disadvantage to be advised in several specialized clinics. A slightly smaller procedure, but one that makes the whole face look more awake and younger, is eyelid correction. It is performed on an outpatient basis and costs about 2000€ per eye.
