Facial Swelling: Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, body weight, body height; furthermore:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin, mucous membranes and sclerae (white part of the eye).
  • Cancer prevention
  • Ophthalmological examination – if eye involvement is suspected.
  • ENT medical examination – if diseases of the ear, nose and throat system are suspected.
  • Neurological examination – in case of suspected neurological disease.
  • Dental examination – if dental disease is suspected.
