Fields of application

Lorano® is mainly used for allergic rhinitis such as hay fever. It relieves symptoms such as swollen nasal mucous membranes, a runny nose and itching of the eyes. Lorano® can also alleviate symptoms such as itchy, swollen skin (wheals) in cases of hives (urticaria), an allergic reaction of the skin to food or contact allergens. In addition, second-generation antihistamines, such as Lorano®, can be used to treat stomach ulcers, as they inhibit acid production in the stomach and thus prevent the formation of further ulcers.

Application and dosage

Lorano® is sold in tablet form and is a pharmacy-only drug. If you are planning to take Lorano®, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist regarding the dosage to avoid an incorrect intake. For adults, the normal dose is one tablet per day, for children with a body weight of 30 kg or more, the normal dose is also one tablet per day.

Children who weigh less than 30 kg should only take half a tablet a day. The drug can be taken regardless of the time of day and meals. However, some patients report a delayed onset of action when taking Lorano® with food. Treatment with Lorano® should be continued as long as the doctor has prescribed or until the symptoms subside. If a patient forgets to take or takes too many tablets, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted immediately.

Side effects

Although Lorano®, as a second-generation antihistamine, has fewer side effects than first-generation active ingredients, there may be adverse effects. Side effects that should be avoided, such as fatigue and exhaustion, are also quite common. Headaches, nervousness and sleep disorders can occur just as much as loss of appetite. If you take a drug, there is always the danger that you will not tolerate the active ingredient and will react allergic.

Symptoms of allergic reactions to drugs range from nausea and dizziness to allergic shock with cardiovascular failure, but are very rare. If you are unsure whether you tolerate Lorano®, it is advisable to consult a doctor and clarify the planned medication. If necessary, an allergy test can provide information about the tolerability of the medication.
