Active ingredient: Nonivamide; Nicoboxil; CapsaicinCayenne pepper thick extractFinalgon® is a drug available in 3 different dosages with partly different active ingredients as ointment or cream. Depending on the preparation, it is used to stimulate blood circulation in the skin, for example to stimulate the blood flow before blood is taken, to produce heat in the skin, muscle and connective tissue and to relieve pain (analgesia) in affected muscle areas. Two of the three preparations contain the combination of the active substances nonivamide, which is a synthetically produced variant of capsaicin, and nicoboxil in different dosages, the third preparation contains cayenne pepper thick extract. Finalgon® itself has been on the market since 1951, although its composition has been partially changed since then. It can be purchased over the counter in pharmacies.

It is also possible that short-term sensations of discomfort may occur after application. Long-term application to the same parts of the body can lead to reversible disturbances of sensitive nerves. Accidental application to the mucous membranes can lead to inflammation which usually subsides.

If Finalgon® accidentally gets into the eyes, temporary visual disturbances and burning may occur. If too much Finalgon® cream was applied, the excess cream can be removed from the skin with skin cream or cooking oil, and from the eye with Vaseline.

Dosage

Finalgon ® Ointment 4mg nonivamide/g ointment + 25mg nicoboxilg ointment serves to stimulate the blood circulation. About 10 minutes before a planned blood collection, a strip of ointment of 1-2 cm length should be applied and rubbed into the affected area. Before taking the blood sample, the ointment residue is wiped off and the skin area is disinfected.

This type of blood sample is taken from the fingertip or earlobe. The person who applies the ointment should wear disposable gloves. Finalgon ® Warming Cream Strong (1.7 mg Nonivamidg + 10.8 mg Nicoboxil/g) is used to stimulate the blood circulation in muscle and joint complaints.

To rub a palm-sized part of the body, a strip of Finalgon ® Strong ointment about 0.5 cm long should be used and rubbed in. Since even small amounts can have a significant effect, only a very small area of skin should be rubbed with a very small amount of ointment at the beginning. Afterwards, the warming stimulus is effective for about 3-6 hours.

Depending on the sensitivity of the treated person, the effect can still be seen after days if it is triggered again by muscle work or sweating. Especially sensitive persons are advised to wear disposable gloves when applying the ointment. Finalgon ® CDP warming cream (26.5 mg cayenne pepper thick extract/50g cream) is used for the relief of muscle pain. For this purpose, a strand of ointment measuring about 2 cm can be applied to the affected area up to 3 times a day and massaged in. The cream should not be used for longer than 3 weeks at the same place, before a new application at the same place a break of 2 weeks should be observed.
