Fitness Training for the Face

Laser treatments with Botox injections or even the surgeon’s knife? It doesn’t have to be, because everyone can tighten their skin in a completely natural way. In addition to appropriate care, facial gymnastics are said to keep the skin young and train the muscles in the face. As an alternative to costly surgery, good old facial gymnastics are once again very much in demand. Even after the first targeted muscle exercises, the face looks fresher, the eyes appear larger, wrinkles can be reduced and bags under the eyes disappear.

Fitness for the face

“Faceforming” is not a magic bullet, but it helps visibly. In addition to daily care with creams and lotions, the skin‘s appearance can be specifically trained with a little discipline, patience and exercise instructions. Our face is formed by 26 muscles alone. They are cleverly interwoven and give it contour and support – especially in young people.

Facial gymnastics against wrinkles and co.

As we age, the body’s cells renew more slowly and the muscles of the head and face also lose elasticity. But although wrinkles bother many people, a “correction” by plastic surgery does not have to be. Because the typical star-shaped wrinkles around the eye, on the forehead and at the root of the nose do not necessarily accompany the aging process.

Rather, they are – just like a double chin and a drooping mouth – often the result of poor posture, unflattering facial expressions and neglected facial muscles. Out of habit, people usually move these parts of the face in only one direction – namely, following gravity.

Therefore, the motto for facial gymnastics is: up-back instead of front-down.

Healthy grimaces

Intensive stimulation training improves the tension state of the muscles. The increasing vitality is not limited to the face, but radiates through the neck and shoulders to the entire body.

As spectacular as the theory sounds, the exercises look inconspicuous. Depending on the desired effect, the corresponding muscle groups are stimulated with the fingertips under light pressure. At the beginning it is best to look in the mirror. Instead of wild grimaces or rough tugging and pulling actions, millimeter-fine movements are sufficient. These usually counteract the gentle resistance of your own fingers. So far often completely unconsciously activated areas of the head work so powerfully.

Training for the face – when does it help?

Very important is: train as consistently as possible. Daily exercises, in the morning or evening about five to ten minutes, are often enough.

But even the most intensive training finds its limits, such as with very strong drooping eyelids. The same applies to pronounced smile lines. They usually cannot be trained away. But that’s a good thing. After all, they make the face really alive and often appear sympathetic.

4 exercises of facial gymnastics

We’ll show you four facial gymnastics exercises to try:

  • Eyes: Place your thumb and index finger under and over the eye area, stretching the skin slightly in the opposite direction. Then blink against the resistance of the fingers 10 to 20 times. Then relax. Goal: training the muscles in the eyelids and around the eyes.
  • Cheeks: Puff on the cheeks and then tap them with your fingertips. Then relax and feel the tingling sensation in this area. Alternatively, you can let the air out slowly while tapping the cheeks. Goal: Strengthen the muscles of the cheeks.
  • Forehead: place your fingers on your forehead so that your fingertips touch, and then pull your eyebrows and eyelids up. If your fingers were not there, the forehead would wrinkle. Hold this tension for 6 to 10 seconds, then relax. Goal: smooth the wrinkles and relax the forehead area.
  • Corners of the mouth: smile while pulling the corners of the mouth even higher, helping with your fingers. Then relax and feel the muscles at this point loosen. Goal: Combat drooping corners of the mouth.
