Flatfoot on the Nile

General information

Flatfoot on the Nile (original title: Piedone d’Egitto) was the last part of a successful four-part series. The main actor in this series was detective commissioner Manuele Rizzo – nicknamed Flatfoot. He was impersonated by Bud Spencer, his assistant Pedro Caputo was played by Enzo Cannavale. The series first appeared in 1973 and was filmed in Italy and France.

Action of flatfoot on the NIL

In the episode “Flatfoot on the Nile” it leads the detective commissioner Manuele Rizzo to Egypt. There he is to free the mad professor and beetle collector Cerullo and Conni Burns, niece of a rich oil millionaire, from the clutches of criminals. The criminals have captured Professor Cerullo because he has apparently found a so-called oil beetle, which is said to be able to detect oil.

With the help of locals who are seeking revenge on the kidnapper, however, the flatfoot commissioner Rizzo manages to free the prisoners and returns to his homeland. Back in Italy, Professor Cerullo continues his research on his oil beetle. When he believes to have found an oil well, he has only drilled into the waste oil pipeline of the port.

“Flatfoot” Manuele Rizzo

Commissar Rizzo, a brawny commissar, detests weapons, but uses his fists instead. He has been a well-known commissioner in Naples for 20 years and enjoys the respect of the crooks. When his former boss retires, Rizzo has to come to terms with his new boss. However, he does not like Rizzo’s way of working at all, which is why “Flatfoot” is increasingly getting into trouble. In addition, drug and gang crime is gaining more and more power, so that Commissioner Flatfoot has to deal with numerous difficulties.

Bud Spencer

Carlo Pedersoli, stage name Bud Spencer, was born on 31. 10. 1929 in Naples.

He is an Italian film and television actor, stuntman, singer, screenwriter and former successful swimmer. Bud Spencer became famous at Terence Hill’s side in numerous western comedies. Most of the time he played a stubborn, good-hearted character, who usually “punched his way through” his roles.
