Floradix | Vitamin preparations

Floradix

Floradix is an iron preparation which, unlike Ferro Sanol, does not require a pharmacy and can therefore be bought in a drugstore. The active ingredient is iron(II)-D-gluconate-x water (105.5 – 116.09), which means that one portion (15 ml) has an iron(II) ion concentration of 12.26 mg. Floradix is used like Ferro Sanol for iron deficiency and therefore has the same contraindications and side effects. It is available in liquid form and 15 ml should be taken 3 times a day. Particularly with preparations sold over the counter, care must be taken not to take excessive doses. If you have any questions or if side effects occur, you should consult a doctor.

Magnesium Verla

Magnesium Verla is a magnesium preparation. It can be bought over the counter in the pharmacy. It is used in cases of magnesium deficiency in the body, which is manifested by dizziness, migraine, diarrhea and vomiting or muscle cramps.

Magnesium is an important mineral that plays a role in bone formation, muscle work and energy metabolism, for example. The active ingredients in Magnesium Verla are magnesium citrate and magnesium bis(hydrogen-L-glutamate). It is available in coated form and 1-3 coated tablets should be taken 3 times a day, depending on the degree of magnesium deficiency.

It is recommended to use it for 4 weeks, but even taking it for years is harmless with normal kidney function. Magnesium Verla should not be used in cases of kidney dysfunction with inhibition of excretion, dehydration and infectious stones (calcium-magnesium-ammonium-phosphate stones). There are no concerns during pregnancy and lactation.

Possible side effects are soft stool or diarrhea, but the daily dose should be reduced. Interactions may occur with tetracyclines (antibiotics), iron preparations and sodium fluoride preparations, which influence the effect of these drugs. Therefore the intake should be postponed for 3-4 hours.

Neuro Stada

Neuro Stada is a vitamin B1 (thiamine) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) preparation. It is available without prescription in pharmacies. It is used in the treatment of neurological systemic diseases when there is a proven deficiency of vitamins B1 and B6, e.g. in polyneuropathy.

Further examples of possible applications are: shingles or in some cases in cervical spine syndromes. One tablet should be taken orally one to three times a day. The exact dosage and duration of use should be discussed with a doctor.

Possible side effects of the therapy are: Tachycardia, sweating, hives and itching. Long-term, high-dose intake of Neuro Stada can lead to sensations in hands and feet (peripheral sensory neuropathies) and even nerve damage. An interaction occurs when the anti-Parkinsonian drug levodopa is taken at the same time.

Vitamin B6 weakens its effect. Contraindications are hypersensitivity to vitamins B1 or B6. During pregnancy and lactation the use of vitamin B6 in high concentrations inhibits milk production. In addition, breast-feeding should be stopped before starting the therapy because the active ingredients can pass into breast milk.
